I started building AqtaBio because of a specific frustration: the data to predict the next pandemic already exists, scattered across satellite imagery, biodiversity databases, climate records, and conflict reports, but nobody had assembled it into a decision-ready signal for the people who need it most.
My background is in sustainability and software engineering. Working with environmental datasets, I kept seeing the same pattern: invisible footprints that only become visible after the damage is done. Deforestation that looks fine in annual reports but is accelerating at tile level. Livestock density that creates zoonotic pressure nobody is measuring in real time.
"You can't change what you can't see."
AqtaBio is the answer to that. Not a research project, a production system, built governance-first, that surfaces pre-etiologic risk in the 65,000+ tiles where the next spillover is most likely to begin. The 53-day COVID lead time in our retrospective analysis isn't a marketing number. It's a proof that the signal was there. We just needed to look.
The governance infrastructure, 8 layers, SHA-256 audit chains, HITL sign-off, SHAP explainability, came before the model, not after. Regulated markets don't give second chances to systems that can't explain themselves. We built the compliance layer first so we'd never have to retrofit it.
Incorporated in Dublin, Ireland. We build AI governance infrastructure for regulated industries. AqtaBio is our first deployment, the highest-stakes domain we could find. If the governance stack works for predicting the next pandemic, it works for your bank, your hospital, your insurance company.
We're looking for epidemiologists, ML engineers, and public health policy experts who want to work on something that matters. We're pre-funding and moving fast.
